Letter to Brittney

Dear Brittney,

Hello Brittney, its Gissele, so I read this really interesting article

about The Daily Show, and since you told me you really liked that show, I

figured I’d tell you a little bit about it. The article is called, The Good, the

Bad, and The Daily Show by Jason Zinser. This article is basically

describing the pros and cons to watching The Daily Show or any other type

of “fake” news, here’s why I want you to read it.

In this article Jason Zinser, the author, presents what he calls

“virtues” in other words the pros of  “fake” news. He begins by mentioning

its attraction to a different population. Since I know you love watching The

Daily Show and not the actual news, I thought it was perfect, for you. Zinser

also goes on by saying that this form of “news” is actually not afraid to say

how they really feel about certain companies, parties, or just people in

general. As oppose to other news broadcast, who are limited to what they

may say, or may think. Zinser also happens to mention the “vices” or

cons of “fake” news. He states that “fake” news is misleading, and should

not be taken so serious. I sort of agreed with him, because The Daily Show

or “fake” news in general, don’t really spend to much time explaining

themselves, they just move on from topic to topic. Then again you might

disagree with this, especially because this is usually your only news source.

The accuracy is also questioned in this article. I actually agree with this one

mostly because it’s a comedic form of news and they might get there facts

wrong and that’s not something I’d be okay with, I don’t know about you,

but I’d like to know that what I’m hearing is the truth. Of course like I said

you might disagree with this article, but then again you might agree with

some of it. It has really interesting arguments which I think you’ll enjoy,

because I know I did. Besides you like The Daily Show, so I feel like this

sheds a little bit more light on this particular type of “fake” news. Anyways

Brittney, I really feel like you’ll find this article interesting so I really

recommend it, again the title is, The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show by

Jason Zinser. And again these are just some of the reason I liked, but if you

want to know more you’ll just have to read it.

Letter to Jason Zinser By: Gissele Beltran

Dear Jason Zinser,

My name is Gissele Beltran, I recently read your article, The Good,

the Bad, and The Daily Show, and was very interested by your response

regarding the show. I would like to begin by introducing myself, again my

name is Gissele Beltran I am a freshman at California State University,

Northridge and am very fond of The Daily Show, I feel like you back up

your opinions. I agree with your statement that “fake” news have their pros

& cons. The virtues as you describe them, are pretty much reasonable, I feel

like you did an amazing job explaining why “fake” news can be beneficial,

such as; its appeal to a different population, its relevance, its objectivity, and

the fact that they’re not afraid to offend anything such as political parties,

religion, and even the individual person. In my opinion, The Daily Show

truly does appeal to others, mostly due to its comedic flair, but also because

it actually delivers the news, and people want to pay attention to what’s

being said. You also happened to mention that The Daily Show, “imparts a

kind of knowledge that traditional news can’t”, which is very true and is

probably why people like it so much, and also like I said before, The Daily

Show doesn’t care to offend certain groups or individuals. Now of course

you offered the virtues of The Daily Show, but you also mention the vices,

which in my opinion were very beneficial. I think one of the biggest issue

with these so called “fake news, are the fact that some might find them

misleading. Although The Daily Show is both entertaining and informing to

the public. I feel like that they don’t really focus on the issue at hand, but

lightly shed the light on it, and calling it a news report. I also like how you

questioned the responsibility and accuracy of the “fake” news. I mean of

course there delivering current news, but are they really getting to the point.

I agree that in order to create a “fake” news cast, they must first see the

traditional news, so it’s not really an alternative just a different perspective.

Again your insight regarding The Daily Show was very interesting, I am

very happy to say that indeed there are good and bad things that come from

this form of news cast, that may or may not be helpful to others. Thank you

so much for your article Mr. Zinser.

Katy Perry By: Gissele Beltran

Dear Katy Perry,
My name is Gissele Beltran, and I am writing to you, because I am a huge fan of yours and would love to know, how and why you do what you do? I am currently a freshman at California State University, Northridge and am just so amazed by your persona. You are such an open individual, so creative, and so inspiring to millions around the world. I've seen you preform and I've heard you music and am so inspired by the way you carry yourself out. I am truly curious to know, who you are as a person, underneath all the fame. What inspires your lyrics? How you overcame and overcome struggles in your life? What your aspirations are, besides music? And what advice you would give to someone like me? I have seen you open your heart to the world through your music and truly find it inspiring, not just because your music is amazing, but because your lyrics are so deep and knowledgeable. I would love an opportunity to work with you, not as an aspiring musician, but as a woman in the making. You have truly touched my life and would love it if you considered taking me in as an intern. I feel I would learn so much from you, both professionally, but also personally. I know your a busy woman, but I would really like the opportunity to grow as an individual, and I feel that you are the role model I need in order to break through my bubble and experience what the world has to offer. Like you said, “ If you don't believe in a dream, no one else will do it for you”, and this is my dream.

"The Good, the Bad, and the Daily Show" By: Jason Zinser Summary By: Gissele Beltran

In this article, Zinser offers the pros & cons of The Daily Show, a comedy news broadcast. Zinser then suggests, "whether or not the fake news is, on the whole, beneficial or damaging to society." He mentions two cons to "fake" news such as; deception and dilution and how it is sometimes misleading. Zinser refers to Matthew Baum who says that the good thing about “fake” news is that this form actually attracts a portion of a population. But also states, “it’s not just about the content, but the quality of the information.”
